Demi Sabah: Brace Up for Revolutionary Changes in 2018 – Dr. Jeffrey

KOTA KINABALU - “The world is undergoing a digital and political revolution in 2018.   Malaysia, with the General Elections required to be held before August, should brace up to face and handle these expected revolutionary changes”, said Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, in his New Year Message.

Global politics is changing and shifting as information and communication technology broadcast violence and sharpens religious and sociological differences affecting behavioural perceptions and decisions of world leaders.

America is being isolated by the global community on account of Jerusalem but also by Trump’s own policy of “America First”.

A revolutionary development in China’s economy, science and technology is pushing China to becoming a key global player economically, militarily and politically after decades of isolation.

The emerging global influence of China is likely to be far greater than most people expect.

India is also a rising star on the world stage with her pool of well trained and talented manpower resources spread all over the world.

With these technological advancements and the acceptance of crypto-currencies and the digital economy, control of the world polity may shift from a particular region or country to groups of international criminals or terrorists if the global community is divided.   It will be a dangerously fluid political situation for the world governance.

Malaysia and Sabah will not be spared from potential turbulence caused by the revolutionary digital economic changes and information technology.   Economic and political institutions will have to quickly make appropriate adjustments to respond to these changes.
