Rumours and lies again about Lajim rejoining Umno

Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah president Lajim Ukin is staying put, the party's information chief said in a statement to counter rumours
There is no truth to rumours that Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah (Harapan) president Lajim Ukin is planning to rejoin Sabah Umno, the Borneo Post reported.

Harapan information chief Karim Adam denied the rumours that had been circulating, saying it was spread by irresponsible quarters.

“The speculation is not new, as it has been around ever since Lajim formed Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah almost a year ago.

“The rumour mongers are worried about the increasing support for Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah under Lajim’s leadership,” Karim said in a statement.

Harapan was founded by Lajim in October last year, after he left Sabah PKR.

The rumours had heightened after Prime Minister Najib Razak said on Sunday that he was going to make a major announcement. It turned out to be about former Selangor menteri besar Muhammad Muhammad Taib rejoining Umno.

According to the Sarawak-based daily, there was speculation in Sabah that Najib would also be announcing that Lajim and Parti Warisan Sabah founder Shafie Apdal are returning to the Umno fold.

Karim also reaffirmed Harapan’s commitment to the Gabungan Sabah opposition pact, with SAPP, STAR and PPRS.

Meanwhile, Shafie told Borneo Post he was “definitely” not rejoining Umno following the rumours about Najib’s announcement on Sunday.
