Zaid 'congratulates' Muhyiddin over call to sack 1MDB board

PETALING JAYA - Former minister Zaid Ibrahim has “congratulated” Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s over his call for 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) board of directors to be sacked.

“Congratulations Muhyiddin for speaking out,” tweeted Zaid on Wednesday.

The former minister however went on to question whether the call was realistic.

“DPM wants PM to sack 1MDB Board. Is that realistic? Did Najib appoint them or was it someone else,” he asked.

Zaid was commenting on a viral video of Muhyiddin lambasting the staggering debts accumulated by 1MDB at a closed-door meeting.

Muhyiddin reiterated his stance on sacking the 1MDB board members at Parliament on Thursday.

When reporters asked if the Prime Minister had responded to his calls, Muhyiddin shrugged and flashed a grin.

“Nothing. I was just making a statement,” he said.

Zaid, meanwhile, also tweeted his denial that he was responsible for the rumours of a conspiracy to topple the Prime Minister that had allegedly been planned in Milan by Muhyiddin and other Umno leaders.

“I did not say there was a conspiracy. Just that several ministers met Muhyiddin in Milan,” tweeted Zaid.

“There's no use for me to create slander on Umno's internal matters. Read what I wrote in my blog,” he said.

The viral video of Muhyiddin also showed him denying the conspiracy.
