I’m not going anywhere, says Khalid

A defiant Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim today said he was not budging from his menteri besar post, even if PKR proposed party president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail for the post.

The Selangor MB said he stood by the state constitution which has mapped out special conducts and processes to replace a state leader.

"Until all the processes are complete, I will continue to do my job as the menteri besar with responsibility as requested by the Selangor people," Khalid said in a statement.

"I hope the people of Selangor will not be easily influenced into believing hearsay.
"Which are provocative and controversial in nature because as enshrined in the Selangor Constitution, there are procedures that we need to adhered to before changing a menteri besar.

"Everything has to be done in a polite and orderly manner." he said.

It was learnt that the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, is expected to make an announcement on the issue at a buka puasa event in Rawang this evening.

The PKR supreme council last night endorsed Dr Wan Azizah as Selangor menteri besar, completing the “Kajang Move” to replace Khalid.

The Kajang assemblywoman's husband and de facto PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced the decision after a meeting at the party headquarters in Petaling Jaya which ended after midnight.

Anwar said Dr Wan Azizah's name has been proposed, and he believed that she can ensure stability for PKR and Pakatan Rakyat.

Khalid said he respected the decision pf the party, but would hold fast to the state enactment and constitution on appointing a menteri besar.

"I believe those involved in this endeavour will have to go through the right channel and processes before they can achieve what they had set out for."

Khalid also assured the people and investors that the current debacle would not affect the administration system of the state.
